Dynamic Crash Testing

SAFE Laboratories has the capability to execute full-scale vehicle crash tests as well as sled testing. Frontal, rear and side impacts can be conducted with Delta V’s up to 35 mph and beyond.  Dynamic crash testing can be used to assess:

  • occupant safety systems
  • restraints
  • airbags
  • seating systems
  • structural deformations
  • padding

Crash impact conditions consistent with:

  • Real world accidents
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airworthiness Standards
  • Military Specifications
  • Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 214 , 208, and 301.

High-speed cameras and onboard instrumentation can be used to document the vehicle and occupant motions as well as record occupant injury measures. Hybrid III anthropometric test devices (ATD) of various sizes are available depending on your testing needs.
