Rollover Occupant Excursion Studies

Rollover Occupant Excursion Studies

A rollover occupant excursion study is a well recognized method of evaluating the performance of a vehicle restraint system during a rollover.  SAFE Laboratories has carried out numerous roll spit studies and has developed a specially designed inversion fixture capable of precisely rotating virtually any type of vehicle.  During the study, a surrogate occupant is seated and restrained in the vehicle and, with the fixture equipped with numerous video cameras; the occupant’s motion throughout the rotation is well documented. Preparations can be made to quickly change restraint systems during testing in order to evaluate the effects of alternative restraint system designs.
