Restraint System Testing

Restraint System Testing

In recent years the popularity of light trucks and sport utility vehicles has increased dramatically in our country. Unfortunately, this has also resulted in increased exposure of vehicle occupants to rollover crashes. Research has shown that rollover crash dynamics result in multiple impacts that will be oriented in multiple directions. The seat belt’s crash sensors must, therefore, be designed and tested to perform reliably in these environments. SAFE Laboratories has developed a matrix of test methods specifically designed to evaluate various seat belt systems’ performance in the rollover crash mode. Combined with various occupant excursion test fixtures, diverse restraint designs can be studied. Additionally, full scale dynamic testing can be conducted on seatbelts and restraint systems in the frontal, side, and rear impact modes.
